Fishing over last weekend was very good for whiting, palometa, blue runners and jacks, but slowed this week. Dolphin and tuna are hard to find right now. Sharks and kingfish can be caught in 20-50 feet of water. On the same reefs are triggerfish, kingfish and occasional cobia. There have been a few mutton snapper caught, too. Fish reefs in 50 to 90 feet of water to get bites from mangrove snapper to 9 pounds and lane snapper to 2 pounds. Snook and redfish can also be caught along the shoreline by Biolab Ramp or in Haulover Canal. Drum can be found schooling around the islands or along the shorelines. Fish early to beat the heat and have the best shot at catching speckled trout and black drum. Hot temperatures are heating up water temps in the shallow lagoon.
